چکیده

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a control protocol standardized by IETF and implemented on the application layer. It can be used to establish, modify, and terminate Internet conferencing, telephony and some other multimedia sessions.[1] SIP uses server and client architecture, Peer-toPeer (P2P) is another popular technology that accomplishes the same functionality in an overlay network where participants are organized as equally important peers. This paper gives a brief introduction to the motivation for P2P-SIP and the requirements for setting up its structure. Secondly, two design alternatives of P2P-SIP architectures are introduced based on the current level. It explains how the SIP-based IP telephony system utilizes the P2P architecture. The paper concludes with a brief look at the limitations of the P2P Internet telephony using SIP and suggests further work is required.

A Self-managing SIP-Based IP Telephony System Based on a P2P Approach Using Kademlia

Most of Voice over IP(VoIP) systems are deployed using SIP protocol and based in a client-server architecture. A lot of people and companies could be benefited if the system did not require the configuration and maintenance of central servers. Some proposals are found in the literature. In order to improve the efficiency of such approaches and to provide a complete self-configuring service of I...

Using SIP as P2P Technology

Nowadays peer-to-peer (p2p) technologies are widely adopted and used for building even more sophisticated services: from ubiquitous file-sharing system to the even more popular Internet telephony. In addition, the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has been used for different purposes. Due to its intrinsic generality and flexibility, it could be adopted to build and manage also p2p applications....

Failover, load sharing and server architecture in SIP telephony

We apply some of the existing web server redundancy techniques for high service availability and scalability to the relatively new IP telephony context. The paper compares various failover and load sharing methods for registration and call routing servers based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). In particular, we consider SIP server failover techniques based on the clients, DNS (Domain N...
